Unless you are blessed with a naturally thick, glossy mane, you will no doubt be one of many who spend extortionate amounts of money on the latest hair wonder product to achieve lust worthy locks. However these products rarely live up to their claims and in some cases can even leave your hair looking and feeling worse due to chemical build up and residue coating left on the hair follicle to ‘mimic’ the glossy look you were aiming for. So what can you do to naturally rejuvenate your hair? Here are our top tips to transform your tresses from dull to dazzling in a few simple steps.
Ditch the Shampoo
We are not suggesting that you go au naturel and let your hairs natural oils self-cleanse, but rather carefully examine your current shampoo bottles and check the ingredients. Avoid any products that contain known harmful products such as parabens and SLS that can strip the hair of its natural oils leaving it weak and brittle, if you don’t want them on your skin then why would you put them on your face?
Give Your Hair Some TLC
The most common reasons for hair damage and breakage is lack of moisture and the primary causes are heat styling, colouring and chemical straightening or setting. If you regularly colour your hair, whether it is bleached or not, you will need to pay careful attention to your tresses and ensure that you infuse moisture back in on a weekly basis by using hair mask or deep conditioning treatment such as hot oils.
Take the Heat Out of Your Hair
We all know how great our hair looks after a professional blow dry, however intense heat applied to our hair can cause lasting damage. If you regularly blow dry and straighten your hair each week then we suggest you avoid using a hairdryer and let your hair air dry wherever possible to retain some of the moisture. Then apply a heat protection treatment to your hair prior to styling with straighteners or tongs.
We are far more aware of the implications of global warming, animal testing and preservative pumped products than ever before, so why not go eco-friendly and opt for some natural remedies to give your hair a pick me up? Dry hair can benefit from being conditioned with an entire egg to deep condition each hair follicle. Apply to clean, damp hair, leave for 20 minutes then rinse with cool water.
A top tip for hair that has a lot of chemical or product build up is a baking soda treatment. Make a mixture of 3 tablespoons of baking soda and small amount of water, apply to hair after and leave to set for at least 5 minutes before rinsing to re the excess shampoo and styling product from your hair.
If you are blessed with strong hair then we recommend using almond oil to keep any dry and damaged ends under control. Simply pour some almond oil into a bowl and heat it for 40 seconds before applying and leaving for 30 minutes before rinsing and revealing beautiful glossy hair that smells edible!
